The display shows that California culture is one where personal freedoms reign on high. Because of this freedom, there have been many cultural movements and technological breakthroughs. Believe it or not, California culture touches nearly every part of the globe, particularly through the evolution of the design and technology industries.

2. Medicine

Because the entertainment industry dominates in Los Angeles, it’s easy for other industries to be ignored. Many exciting medical breakthroughs are being developed in Southern California.

In 2014, David Geffen, creator of the Asylum record label and co-founder of DreamWorks, received the UCLA Medal – the school’s highest honor. During his acceptance speech, he affirmed that the doctors being educated and trained at UCLA will make a huge impact on the world.

3. Green Initiatives

While California’s green jobs initiative did not get off to a great start, California still leads the way in leveraging green technologies to improve quality of life while reducing waste. Southern California has its fair share of exciting green start-ups and organizations dedicating to promoting everything from renewable energy to electric cars.
